An Integrated Climate and Energy Policy

Organised by IEFE – Bocconi University

Climate change challenges have become a decisive element of the EU energy policy. The heightened competition and liberalization in formerly monopolistic sectors require environmental policy to be reconcilied with market mechanisms, both at the national and European levels. Examples of this are the markets for energy efficiency and for carbon emissions. At an international horizon, negotiations on a comprehensive post-2012 agreement to broaden the Kyoto protocol are currently taking place.
