Research

The Centre for Research on Energy and Environmental Economics and Policy conducts applied research in the following fields:

a)     energy economics

focusing on energy markets as well as on natural resources;

b)     environmental economics
        focusing on environmental policy, on environmental management and sustainability;
c)     economics of public utilities
        focusing on energy, water and waste.

In order to maintain high standards in its research endeavors and foster a productive research environment, IEFE has revised its governance and its funding methods. A key element of this development project is the definition of a Three-year Research Plan, a fundamental tool for drawing up a prospective of a medium-term research.

IEFEs research activities are funded in two different ways:
1) The first way is represented by sources which can be defined as Structural Funds, since they cannot be attributed to a particular research program but to the overall activity of the Institute. Membership fees, Università Bocconi contributions, and grants are examples of this kind of funding.
2) The second way is represented by sources which can be defined as Project Funds. These are provided in exchange for conducting a specific research program. Examples of this type of funding are the public funds distributed by Italian Ministries or the European Commission, and revenues accruing from commissioned research projects.
