Christian Garavaglia

 

 

Christian Garavaglia was born on the 6th of July, 1973. He lives in Turbigo, a small town not far from Milan. Christian graduated in Economics at Bocconi University in 1998 with a dissertation about Industrial Dynamics and Simulation Models. After his graduation, he joined KITeS (where he is currently a Research Fellow).

In 2001 he obtained an MSc in Economics at the University of York, UK, where he wrote a dissertation about the transitional dynamics of entry in presence of technological change, under the supervision of Prof. Huw Dixon.

In 2004 he received his PhD in Economics at University of Pavia, Italy, working with Proff. Franco Malerba and Guido Ascari.

In 2003 and 2004 he was a Post Doctoral Fellow at Cattaneo University LIUC, Castellanza (VA), where is at this time teaching Microeconomics.

Since February 2005 he is Assistant Professor at the University of Milan - Bicocca, Faculty of Statistics.

His main research concerns are in the field of industrial economics and industrial dynamics with particular attention to the evolution of industrial structures and to the process of entry of new firms. Simulation models (in particular History-Friendly models) are one of his main concerns as well. His main interests refer also to the evolution of the pharmaceutical industry and the brewing industry.

His hobbies are: sport (tennis ex C3 in the Italian ranking) and the history and culture of the brewing industry (he is an homebrewer since 1996).
